State Bar of Texas Law Student Division 2020 Legal Professionalism Award

Purpose

The purpose of this award is to promote legal professionalism among Law Student Division members by rewarding participation in activities that further the administration of justice, enhance professional responsibility, and provide service to the public.

Have your past and present accomplishments paved the way for you to become a remarkable lawyer?

If so, take advantage of this opportunity to be awarded $1,000 by the State Bar of Texas!

In an essay, explain how your professional traits are worth emulating within the legal profession. Your essay should illustrate ways that you set an example in your community and make others proud that you have chosen to be a part of the legal profession. Your essay can be based on a single occurrence or on a lifetime of professionalism.

Award Guidelines

Two award recipients will be chosen from all of the Law Student Division applicants. You must be an active Law Student Division member to apply. (Not sure if you are a member? Please call 800-204-2222, ext. 1518)

Both award recipients will receive $1,000. All decisions will be final.

Deadline

The 2020 Legal Professionalism Award entry form and essay must be received by the Law Student Division no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use the following criteria when evaluating each essay:

  • Interpretation of the Theme 50%
  • Writing Style 25%
  • Clarity 10%
  • Grammar/Punctuation 15%
  • TOTAL 100%

Eligibility Rules 

  • To be eligible for this award, you MUST be a current member of the State Bar of Texas Law Student Division.
  • Each eligible law student may submit only one Legal Professionalism Award entry form and essay.
  • Electronically submit your completed entry form and your typed essay (12-point font, double-spaced, maximum of two pages) to Bree Trevino at btrevino@texasbar.com.
