Briana Gordley
“My motivation to go to law school is grounded in my commitment to justice, economic equity, and systemic reform. Being a social worker and policy advocate has informed my belief that the law is one of the most powerful tools we have to create meaningful change for people whose lives have been shaped by violence, poverty, and systemic injustice. I want to go to law school to more effectively use the law as a tool to build lasting pathways for people to achieve safety, stability, and financial wellbeing. Becoming a lawyer is the next step in my lifelong commitment to service and social justice, and one that will allow me to walk alongside those most impacted by injustice as a trusted and effective legal advocate.”
Briana Gordley is a License Master Social Worker (LMSW) and holds a BA in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and an MSSW from UT Austin, with a concentration in policy and administration. Prior to law school, Briana served as a senior policy analyst at Texas Appleseed, leading efforts to enhance consumer protections and protect Texans from predatory lending, coerced debt and financial abuse, unjust debt collection practices, lack of data privacy rights, and poorly regulated emerging financial technology products. She plans to use her legal education to continue advancing economic justice and consumer protection through direct service and legislative advocacy efforts.
