Gus Maxwell is a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice in the Environment and Natural Resources Division. Immediately after law school, he clerked for Judge Marjorie Allard of the Alaska Court of Appeals in Anchorage, Alaska.

At Texas Law, Gus was an editor of the Texas Law Review and completed over 225 hours of pro bono legal work, volunteering with Street Law, Youth Court, and the Pro Bono in January trip to the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas (PBinJ). He returned to the Rio Grande Valley as a 2L and 3L as a member of the PBinJ student leadership team. Gus participated in the Domestic Violence Clinic and interned with Texas State Senator Jose Rodriguez and the Antitrust Section of the Texas Attorney General’s Office, both in Austin. During the summers, he interned with U.S. Magistrate Judge David West in Durango, Colorado and worked for Kirkland & Ellis in San Francisco.
