Lea Kokenes is a housing attorney at Mobilization for Justice in New York City.

At Texas Law, Lea was a board member of the Public Interest Law Association and If/When/How Texas Law and a member of the Justice Center student advisory board and the Texas Law Review. She was a Pro Bono Scholar with the Mithoff Pro Bono Program, helping lead the expunction team. She also volunteered for a variety of other pro bono projects, including the parole project, the gender affirmation project, and the LoneStar Justice Alliance defender toolkit project.

Lea participated in the Actual Innocence Clinic and the Housing Clinic and interned with the Texas Fair Defense Project in Austin. The summer after her 1L year, she worked for the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office in Charlotte, North Carolina. The summer after her 2L year, she worked for the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem in New York City, assisting civil practice attorneys on the collateral consequences and housing defense teams.
