Class of 2022

Shanti Khanna is a staff attorney at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA). In her role, Shanti assists clients in filing petitions to reinstate parental rights under a new statute, which allows parents whose rights have been terminated to reestablish a relationship with their children under certain circumstances. Shanti began her work at TRLA as a Postgraduate Fellow with the 4Girls Foundation.

At Texas Law, Shanti participated in a variety of pro bono projects, including the Expunction Project, the Street Law High School Outreach Project, and the INCLUDE Special Education Project. She was a student in the Children’s Rights Clinic and the Juvenile Justice Clinic. She spent her 1L summer with the Equal Justice Center and her 2L summer with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid’s Foster Youth Justice Project, both in Austin. During her third year, she served as the Scott Ozmun Fellow with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, assisting with child custody, divorce, and domestic violence cases and helping manage legal advice clinics.
