Shelby Alexander
Shelby came to law school with a decade of experience working in nonprofits and government, where she worked in different capacities in communications, policy, case management, fundraising, and organizational administration. Shelby’s time working in legal aid inspired her to provide direct legal services and advocate for broad systemic change.
During her 1L year, Shelby was a Change It Up! 2024 student planner and volunteered with the Mithoff Pro Bono Program's parole, expunction, driver's license recovery, SPEAK, wills, and immigration service trip projects. Currently, she is an executive board member for the Public Interest Law Association, a pro bono scholar for the Parole Project, and a student in the Criminal Defense Clinic. The summer after her 1L year, Shelby was a law clerk for the El Paso County Public Defender's Office and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid's Opioid Use Disorder Legal Support Project.
