Valeria Arguelles
“My time spent as a paralegal working alongside TRLA’s housing attorneys and BASTA’s community organizers highlighted the importance of demystifying tenant rights to directly empower people to advocate for themselves. I am tremendously honored at the opportunity to continue that pursuit and can think of no better place than the Justice Center to help me do so.”
Valeria Arguelles graduated from UT Austin in 2022 with a degree in English and a minor in Philosophy of Law. Before law school, she worked as a housing paralegal with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and Building and Strengthening Tenant Action, representing tenants in eviction hearings and leading community education efforts. Her work blended legal advocacy with grassroots organizing. Post-law school, she plans to continue that model as a movement lawyer—litigating cases, educating communities, and mobilizing collective action for justice in immigration, housing, or disability rights.
