Training Program: “May it Please the Court: Effective Appellate Oral Advocacy”

Location: Eidman Courtroom

The American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers will join with Texas Law to put on a free training program at the law school on appellate oral advocacy.  The program will include a lecture on oral argument, followed by two live demonstrations by experienced lawyers who have distinguished themselves as some of the top appellate advocates in the country, appearing before a judicial panel. After the mock oral arguments, a lawyer who originally argued the example case will comment on the demonstration and discuss the actual oral argument. The program will conclude with a moderated panel discussion by experienced appellate judges and appellate practitioners.

The program is open to staff attorneys of nonprofit organizations who provide free legal services to low income Texans.  Texas Law students and faculty are also invited to attend.  RSVP to Eden Harrington (eharrington@law.utexas.edu) before June 9.
