Summer Public Service Program
Texas Law is committed to making it possible for every student to gain valuable professional experience while providing the community with much-needed legal services. The Summer Public Service Program (SPSP) supports students working in unpaid or low-paying summer positions with nonprofit, government, and legislative offices with a “floor” of funding.
The SPSP serves as an umbrella for summer fellowships created through grants and gifts from generous donors. Several longstanding named summer fellowships are now awarded through the SPSP. We seek additional support for the SPSP and encourage those interested in contributing to make an online gift here. Those interested in creating a named fellowship are encouraged to contact Nicole Simmons, Director of the William Wayne Justice Center.
Students will receive either a Justice Center named fellowship or a general Summer Public Service Program fellowship. For eligibility requirements and application information for summer 2025, visit the SPSP 2025 and Justice Center Named Fellowships 2025 pages.
Named Fellowships – Summer 2025
The William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law will award the named fellowships listed below in the summer of 2025.
These competitively awarded fellowships provide a stipend of $8,000 for at least ten weeks of work with a qualified sponsoring organization and special recognition. Preference will be given to students who intend to pursue careers in public service. Please review the eligibility requirements of each fellowship before submitting your application.
Applications are due by noon on Friday, March 7, 2025. Selected fellows will be announced by March 31, 2025. Applicants not selected for a named fellowship are encouraged to apply for a general Summer Public Service Program fellowship: https://law.utexas.edu/publicinterest/summer-public-service-program-2025/.
