Following graduation, Amy Austern will work as a public defender at New York County Defender Services in New York City.

At Texas Law, Amy was an executive board member of the Public Defense Group, a member of the Justice Center student advisory board, and a Pro Bono Scholar with the Mithoff Pro Bono Program’s Expunction Project. She also participated in the Mithoff Program’s Parole Project, Asylum Clinic, and Gender Affirmation Project, and was a student in the Immigration Clinic, Criminal Defense Clinic, Capital Punishment Clinic, and Juvenile Justice Clinic.

The summer after her 1L year, Amy worked with The Legal Aid Society’s criminal defense practice in New York City. The summer after her 2L year, she worked for New York County Defender Services.
