Following graduation, Justin Atkinson will work for the Legal Aid Society as a staff attorney, representing tenants living in Brooklyn, New York.

At Texas Law, Justin was a member of the Justice Center student advisory board, a staff editor of the Texas Journal on Civil Liberties & Civil Rights, and a student ambassador for the Law School’s Admissions Office. He served as a board member of the Public Interest Law Association, Law Students for Black Lives, and GRITS (the student-led Getting Radical in the South Conference) and was a Pro Bono Scholar with the Mithoff Pro Bono Program, helping lead the Title IX project for two years. He participated in the Housing Clinic and the Civil Rights Clinic. Justin received the Texas Access to Justice Commission’s 2023 Law Student Pro Bono Award and was a member of the Association of American Law School’s 2023 Pro Bono Honor Roll.

After his 1L year, Justin worked for Brooklyn Legal Services in New York City. After his 2L year, he worked in the collateral consequences unit of the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, also in New York.
