Crisis in the Legal Profession: Don't Mourn, Organize, a paper for the Carhart Conference on Legal Ethics, Ohio Northern University, March 30, 2011, 37 Ohio. N. L. Rev. 539 (2011). The opening sentences of this essay, based on a lecture given at the Conference, set out the theme. Legal “ethics” have little to do with ethical issues, and the legal profession is increasingly guided by the interests of corporate clients and the law firms that represent them.
