Leonard Peltier & The Importance of Storytelling

Excerpt from an interview with Michael Tigar in Austin, Texas on August 1-2, 2016.

In this clip, Tigar makes reference to Leonard Peltier, a member of the American Indian Movement, a Native American activist group. Peltier is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted of murdering two FBI agents during a shootout at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975. Several activists and prominent figures claim that his sentencing was unjust and that there is not strong enough evidence he committed the crimes.
