Query: Judges or Lawyers--Who Are the Keepers of the Flame?, 74 Judicature 125 (October-November 1990). This is the text of a luncheon speech at the 7th Circuit Judicial Conference. It is a satirical examination of rich v. poor in the legal system. Judge Posner laughed at the reference to himself; Judge Easterbrook was not amused. Justice Stevens (who was on the dais) thought it was great fun.
