Clinic Victory for Texas Death Row Inmate

We are pleased to announce the UT Law and Religion Clinic worked with the Capital Habeas Unit at the Northern District of Texas Public Defenders office in successfully securing a religious accommodation for a Texas death row inmate. Our client is scheduled to be executed in October and Texas rules require his body be embalmed, in violation of his Jewish faith. We were pleased to reach an agreement with the Texas Attorney General’s office that will ensure his body be disposed of in accordance to his faith.
