Amelia Ruiz Fischer

Amelia Ruiz Fischer is an attorney in a private firm in Nacogdoches, Texas that focuses on immigration, employment, and civil rights matters. Immediately after graduating from law school, she worked as a fellow at the Texas Civil Rights Project in Austin, assisting undocumented immigrants affected by the federal government’s Secure Communities program. Her work was funded by a two-year Equal Justice Works Fellowship.

At Texas Law, Amelia participated in the Immigration Clinic, the Transnational Worker Rights Clinic, and the Criminal Defense Clinic. She was vice president for client relations for the Domestic Violence Survivor Support Network, the mentor coordinator for Street Law, and a member of the National Lawyers Guild and the National Immigration Project. She worked for the Texas Civil Rights Project in its Austin office and a criminal defense firm in Spain.
