Multiparty mediation isn’t just two-party mediation with more chairs. It demands a fundamentally different skill set: from process design to coalition management to settlement mechanics. This intensive training equips experienced mediators with the advanced frameworks, practical tools, and simulated experience needed to lead complex multiparty cases with confidence.

  • How to map parties, interests, coalitions, and power dynamics before the first session
  • Process architecture: the design decisions every multiparty mediator must make
  • Caucus sequencing strategy and confidentiality management across multiple rooms
  • Managing different formats: virtual, in-person and hybrid
  • Settlement models and specific techniques for breaking conditional-offer impasses
  • Managing in-person, virtual, and hybrid format challenges
  • Live simulation experience with peer feedback and expert debrief

Instructors

  • Kimberly Horndeski

    Kimberly Horndeski is a certified mediator, facilitator, and the Executive Director for Community Consulting LLC. Her work focuses on integrating policy and science to engage stakeholders, develop strategic plans, promote collaboration, and transform conflict into successful strategies for the future. She has led multiple state and national working groups to overcome challenges and reach consensus. Her projects include bottom-up approaches, such as working with nonprofits to develop effective strategies to engage elected officials in adopting initiatives, and top-down approaches, such as assisting the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service throughout the nation to incorporate stakeholder values in the decision-making processes for federally-listed threatened and endangered species.
