Ana Carolina Assumpção (she/her) is a journalist and doctorate student at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also obtained a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies (with a portfolio in Women and Gender and African Diaspora studies). She is interested in gender, sexuality, and Black studies, specifically in Black bodies' resistance mechanisms that include well-living and new future possibilities. Her Ph.D. project focuses on Race and Feminist Geopolitical studies, precisely, community collectives and Black women's organizations in Rio de Janeiro's favelas and how they resist the state's anti-blackness policies. At the University of Texas at Austin, she promoted cultural events, and prior to that, she worked as a curator and producer of artistic events for public schools in Brazil.
