Angela Sophia Perez

Ángela S. Pérez Aguilar is a master’s student at the Teresa Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies. Her research focuses on community self-determination and involvement in policymaking, with a focus on the Spanish-speaking Caribbean. Ángela was raised in Puerto Rico and completed her bachelor’s degree at Yale University in May 2024, majoring in Political Science with a certificate in journalism. During this time, she traveled to Chile, Cuba, and Mexico with various reporting fellowships. With her master’s, she hopes to continue advocating for various communities and is passionate about working with people, not just for them.
