Annie Bares is a PhD student in the Department of English Literature. She studies American literature, film, environmental humanities, and disability studies. Her research examines how American literature and film represent issues of economic and environmental injustice and resistance to injustice. Prior to graduate school, she worked for non-profit arts and humanities organizations in Memphis, Tennessee, including the National Civil Rights Museum. Annie received a BA in English from Rhodes College in Memphis.
