Aixin is a PhD candidate in Religious Studies. She studies xenophobia, gender-based violence, and immigration. Before entering academia, she worked at several immigration nonprofits. She was specifically involved in cases at immigration detention centers, doing a wide variety of work related to asylum, u visas, bonds, and other forms of humanitarian relief. Her observations from that time led her to current research into the ways that religious studies can be leveraged to help victims and survivors of gender-based violence within an immigration context. Aixin graduate from Macalester College with a degree in International Studies and Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies.
