Billy Pavord
Billy Pavord (B.A. 2015, Tulane University; J.D. expected 2021) interned at the Lawyers for Human Rights legal clinic in Pretoria, South Africa during summer 2019. Before attending law school, Billy spent time as a Client Advocate at the Orleans Public Defenders. At this position, he connected clients to social services throughout New Orleans, provided information to clients at their first appearance, and wrote mitigation letters in support of clients at their sentencing hearings. Billy also served as the Bond Reduction Administrator. In conjunction with the Mayor’s Office and the VERA Institute, he provided advocacy and monitored outcomes for over 1,000 low risk offenders. In law school, Billy continues to seek opportunities to work directly with clients and participate in multiple pro bono projects. In Pretoria, he assisted refugees and asylum seekers process their asylum claims and assert their legal rights to social services. Billy hopes to continue a career in public interest after law school.
