Summer Human Rights Fellows Alumni
Brian Watson

Brian Watson (B.A. Criminal Justice 2012, Michigan State University; J.D. expected 2017, University of Texas) will spend his summer in the criminal practice division of the Bronx Defenders in New York City. The Bronx Defenders (BxD) is a group of dedicated criminal and civil legal practitioners that are on the cutting edge of combating systemic injustice and poverty in America's largest city. Brian looks forward to working directly with clients, preparing for trial, and making the state of New York respect the constitutional rights of all of their residents. During his 1L summer, Brian worked in the Felony Trial Unit of the Cook County Public Defender in Chicago, where he assisted in investigation and trial preparation. Prior to law school Brian worked as a Private Investigator, holding licenses in seven states. He investigated fraudulent insurance claims, white collar crimes, and infidelity cases. After law school he hopes to work as a public defender; and spend the rest of his life aggressively championing the constitutional and liberty rights of the accused.
