Dorothy is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology. Their research broadly engages queer social movements and the development of anti-queer politics transnationally via qualitative methods. Prior to coming to UT, Dorothy completed an MSc in Gender, Peace and Security at the LSE and was the Winner of the Best Critical Intervention in a Dissertation Prize 2021-2022 for their work mapping queer rights discourses in state and activist assemblages in Turkey. Having previously worked in Turkey as a Fulbright Scholar and journalist, Dorothy’s media publications include accounts of queer and feminist politics and rights-centric activism in Ankara and Istanbul.
