Duriba Khan

Orlando Letelier and Ronni Karpen Moffitt Endowed Presidential Scholar in Law; Reprieve (Washington, D.C.) (2022)
Summer Human Rights Fellows
Duriba Khan will be interning remotely at Reprieve in Washington, D.C. as a summer fellow on the Guantanamo Bay Project. Reprieve challenges, investigates, and campaigns against human rights abuses in the courts of law – in the United States and worldwide. Duriba’s professional interests include addressing national security and civil liberties issues stemming from the abuse of detainees in U.S. custody. Additionally, she is passionate about investigating government secrecy and surveillance, oversight of private security contractors employed by the military, and discrimination against Arab and Muslim Americans in the wake of 9/11.
At Texas Law, she is a National Security Law Fellow at The Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law and the Co-President of the Muslim Legal Society. Previously, she was a pro-bono scholar with the Mithoff Pro-Bono Program and the Vice President of the Public Interest Law Association. Prior to law school, Duriba interned at National Public Radio (NPR), Warren for America, and at the U.S. House of Representatives. In her free time, she performs improv around Austin.
