Elizabeth Schmelzel is a third year law student at Texas Law. Born and raised in southern Illinois, Elizabeth earned her undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. After college, she worked in Senegal and China before earning her Master's degree in human rights from The London School of Economics and Political Science. At Texas Law, Elizabeth has focused largely on immigration and criminal defense work. She is especially interested in immigration detention and did a semester placement in London working with detained immigrants throughout the United Kingdom. Elizabeth hopes to practice immigration law upon graduation in 2018.
