Emily Anaya
Emily Anaya is a senior Communication and Leadership major from Kingwood, Texas. She is a Distinguished College Scholar and a member of the Moody College Honors Program and Communication Council. Emily served as one of the five Moody Media Scholars for Social Change for the 2021-2022 academic year, in which she helped develop the official trailer for the Diversity in Media Symposium "Queer Futures: Media and Communication at the Intersections" and worked to establish a repository of minority perspectives for incoming Moody students. Emily has been published in UT student and campus magazines for her writing on race, equity, and inclusion both creative and research-based. Her previous projects include working on non-profit social justice organizations such as the Museum of Color and La Capirucha, political campaigns including Sima Ladjevardian for Congress, and she most recently interned at Ibekwe Law, PLLC, an estate planning firm focused on empowering female and minority clients. After graduating, Emily plans to pursue law school to channel her intersecting identities into a career as a human rights or immigration attorney.
