Helen Kerwin (BA and MA 2013, University of Oklahoma; JD expected May 2017) will intern this summer at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Mexico City, Mexico, where she will assist the protection team with research and reporting on refugee detention conditions and deportations in Mexico. Last summer, she interned at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in San José, Costa Rica as the fourth Charles Moyer Human Rights Fellow. At Texas Law, Helen is Submissions Editor of the Texas International Law Journal and a member of the Rapoport Center Human Rights Working Paper Series editorial board. During the 2015-2016 school year, she was a Human Rights Scholar at the Rapoport Center, a student in the Human Rights Clinic, and a judicial intern in the Western District of Texas. She is a member of the Pro Bono in January Leadership Team and a board member of the Human Rights Law Society and the Public Interest Law Association (PILA). Helen hopes to pursue a career in international human rights law.
