Jamie is a rising second-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology and a trainee in the Population Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests lie at the intersection of immigration, law, education, and health, especially among immigrant young adults and their families. Before graduate school, Jamie completed a two-year postbaccalaureate fellowship with the Texas Behavioral Science and Policy Institute at UT. She also co-founded a student-centered collective at UT dedicated to ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities for students who are undocumented, have temporary status, and/or are from mixed-status families. Jamie aims to further her impact through her doctoral studies, advancing research on the effects of multilevel law systems on immigrant communities. Her ultimate goal is to bridge research and activism to inform policy and practice to alleviate inequalities affecting immigrant communities.
