Ja’nell N. Ajani

Ja’nell N. Ajani is a Curator, Cultural Content Producer and Co-Founder of the BASQUIAT: Still Fly @ 55 project, a series of programming culminating in a one-day symposium based on her research that examines the consumption and commodification of the artistic legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat.

In addition to her work on Basquiat, Ajani has produced special events in partnership with institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art, Times Square Arts, Performa, The Brooklyn Museum, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, The Studio Museum in Harlem, The Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, WBAI Radio 99.5 FM NYC, Africana Studies program in the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at NYU, and NYU Florence.

Through the development of public programming, conferences, and symposia, Ajani seeks to create opportunities for “bold voices” that are committed to elevating conversations within academia, popular culture, and beyond.
