Jon Sawyer is the Executive Director of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. that sponsors independent reporting with the intent of raising the standard of media coverage of international systemic crises. Sawyer founded the Pulitzer Center after a 31-year career with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, where he served as the Washington Bureau chief from 1993 to 2005. He is a three-time recipient of the National Press Club’s award for Best Foreign Reporting. Sawyer holds a B.A. in English literature and history from Yale University and was an Alfred Sloan Fellow in Economics Journalism at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy.
