Juan Carlos Morales

Juan Carlos Morales Barbosa (LL.M. expected 2027) is a Mexican lawyer who graduated with honors from the Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey. He wrote his honors thesis on the “Limits on Political Speech in Constitutional Democracies.”

As an undergraduate, he participated in strategic human rights litigation, including cases concerning access to healthcare in Mexico, family reunification, and animal welfare. He also participated in his law school’s Amparo and Constitutional Litigation Clinic.

Before entering Texas Law, Juan Carlos worked at a law firm specializing in international trade, where he focused on litigation and the defense of importers’ rights. He also continued to pursue his interest in human rights through litigation and legal research. At Texas Law, he seeks to further develop his research on freedom of speech in constitutional democracies.
