Patrick Higginbotham
The Hon. Patrick Higginbotham is Senior Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He served for many years as a faculty member of the Federal Judicial Center and has delivered lectures on topics such as Federal Courts, Constitutional Law, and Equal Protection at St. Mary’s School of Law, Columbia Law School, and Duke University School of Law, among many other law schools in the US and in Europe. Higginbotham is the author of more than 4,000 judicial opinions as well as 58 articles and book reviews for law reviews and legal journals. He has received numerous awards including the Samuel E. Gates Litigation Award from the American College of Trial Lawyers (1997), the TEX-ABOTA Judge of the Year Award (2006), and the Chief Justice John Marshall Award for Lifetime Achievement. He is a lifetime member of both the American Law Institute and the Board of Trustees of the Center for American & International Law, and a member of the Board of Advisors for the RAND Institute for Civil Justice. Higginbotham holds a BA from University of Alabama and an LLB from University of Alabama School of Law.
