Karina Zemel
Karina Zemel is a senior majoring in Linguistics with a minor in Government. She is also a part of the Liberal Arts Honors program and is working towards a certificate in Public Policy from the Bridging Disciplines Program. Karina has studied abroad in London and Paris, where she focused on social and economic justice and political science. While in Paris, Karina engaged in an effort to provide assistance to the city’s incoming refugees as a part of Sciences Po Refugee Help. This experience strengthened her resolve to promote refugee and migrant rights, particularly as they intersect with the rights of indigenous peoples, and also helped to develop her interest in immigration policy. Karina’s past experiences involve volunteering at Workers Defense Project, Casa Marianella, and Austin Tan Cerca through Texas Amnesty International. After graduation, Karina plans to attend law school and pursue a career in immigration law.
