Katherine Spry (B.A. 2019, University of Chicago; J.D. expected 2025) will be interning this summer at the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project (FIRRP) in Tucson, AZ. FIRRP provides free legal and social services to detained adults and children under threat of deportation in the state of Arizona. Katherine will be interning for the Border Action Team where she will be providing legal orientations to arriving migrants in Nogales, Mexico and legal representation to detained asylum seekers in Arizona. At Texas Law, Katherine has participated in the Mithoff Pro Bono Program’s SPEAK, GAP, Title IX, and Parole Projects. In the fall, she will be joining the Human Rights Clinic and serving on the board of If/When/How as Co-Vice President of Communications. Katherine is committed to advancing the rights of immigrants with a particular focus on women and children’s rights. Before arriving at Texas Law, Katherine worked with detained unaccompanied immigrant children as a paralegal for the National Immigrant Justice Center in Chicago, IL. As an undergraduate, Katherine completed a senior thesis on gender-based persecution and asylum law. Katherine plans to pursue a career in immigration and human rights law.
