Kathleen Field is a PhD candidate in the Program for Comparative Literature. Their dissertation project, entitled Indebted Landscapes: Mapping Circum-Caribbean Racial Geography, Anti-Debt Work, and The Refusal To Pay argues that U.S. racial capitalism operates on Black, colonized, and Caribbean bodies via extractive financial and environmental practices and theorizes how circum-Caribbean authors refuse these systems of subjugation in their art. Kathleen is the current Editorial Assistant for TSLL and an Assistant Editor for American Short Fiction. Their academic and creative work has been supported by the University of Texas at Austin, the Key West Literary Seminar, and the Breadloaf Environmental Writers' Conference. Their writing can be found online and in print.
