Leah Rodríguez
Leah Rodríguez (B.A. 2015, The University of Texas at Austin; J.D. expected 2019) will intern this summer with the immigration team at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in Austin, Texas. She will spend the remaining weeks of summer studying K'iche' in Guatemala. Leah interned last summer with the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) in Austin. While at Texas Law, Leah has participated in the Karnes Pro Bono Project, Pro Bono in January (ProBAR), Family Law for Immigrants, Asylum with RAICES, DACA with Texas Here to Stay, Trauma Interview Training, Expunction Work Sessions, and Disability Rights with INCLUDE. She has participated in the Immigration Clinic and Transnational Workers Rights Clinic, and is a member of the William Wayne Justice Center Student Advisory Board. As an undergraduate, Leah enjoyed volunteering with Grassroots Leadership and completing her degree in Latin American Studies through UT, Tecnológico de Monterrey (Querétaro, Mexico), and Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador). She intends to work in immigration after graduating. Her passions include removal defense and ending all immigrant detention.
