Madison Alvarez

Madison Alvarez is a senior Advertising major with a minor in Business and Public Policy pursuing a Bridging Disciplines Program certificate in Human Rights and Social Justice at UT Austin. Madison’s research interests are centralized around higher education, labor and housing rights. She is a Salzburg Global Fellow for the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change that emphasized equitable and inclusive futures. Her academic focus is complemented by her hands-on experience in public service and communications. Previously, Madison has interned as a Legislative Aide in the Texas House of Representatives, managed social media for the City of Austin, and was involved in communications and public relations at the Texas Book Festival. She is
passionate about political communications and her commitment to using strategic communication as a tool to influence policy and public opinion. After graduation, she plans to attend a graduate program to obtain her Masters in Public Affairs or Public Policy with an emphasis on foreign affairs and international relations.
