Madison Haiman
Madison Haiman is a PhD student at The University of Texas at Austin, Steve Hicks School of Social Work (SHSSW). Madison completed her Bachelor of Science in Addiction and Recovery and Master of Social Work (MSW) at The University of Alabama. Madison’s research is focused on health policy and maternal and reproductive justice, with a specific interest in prenatal substance use policy and intervention. She seeks to improve policy and practice through addressing the dual maternal health and substance use crises.
After graduating with her MSW, Madison began working as a research assistant at the Center for Maternal Health Equity (CMHE) at Morehouse School of Medicine. In this role, Madison promotes reproductive and maternal health equity and addresses systemic barriers through community-based participatory mixed methods and implementation science research, manuscript development and delivery, dissemination of research at national conferences, and advocacy efforts.
Madison was awarded the Council for Social Work Education 2023-2024 Policy Fellowship due to her scholarship and dedication to policy research. She has also been appointed to the Society for Social Work Research Doctoral Committee and the CDC Preventing Chronic Disease Student Scientific Writing and Review Training Committee.
