Maggie Hawkins

Maggie Hawkins is a 3rd year PhD student in the Department of English. Before coming to UT, she received her masters in English at New York University with a focus on late-20th-century Black radical literature. She has since shifted her research focus broadly to the English Middle Ages. Her research interests therein include Old English poetry, medievalisms from 1800 to the present, premodern race studies, critical whiteness studies, as well as transtemporal nationalism and extremism.
