María is a feminist lawyer and Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology. Her work lies at the intersection of gender, social mobilization, violence, states, social reproduction, and everyday life in Latin America. Prior to coming to UT, she earned her law degree and an M.A. in Sociology at Universidad de los Andes and worked as a women's rights lawyer in Colombia. She has research and teaching experience in reproductive justice, gender-based violence, drug policy, and feminist political economy.
