Maro Youssef

Maro Youssef is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Sociology at The University of Texas at Austin. She received her MA in Middle East Studies from the George Washington University with a Portfolio in Women’s and Gender Studies and her BA in History from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She was previously a foreign policy analyst at the US Department of State where she worked on political, economic, and social issues in North Africa and human rights and women’s rights in the Persian Gulf. She served at the US Embassy in Tunisia and the US Embassy in Turkey. She is focused on examining gender, security, and human rights issues in North Africa.
