Matthew Kavanagh
Matthew Kavanagh is the senior policy analyst for Health GAP (Global Access Project) and a Benjamin Franklin Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Matthew’s work explores how globalized private property rights and human/economic rights are balanced in the global South and the implications for people’s access to essential goods such as AIDS medicines and water. He has published widely, drafted legislation that was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, presented before the U.N. Special Rapporteur for the Right to Health, and led a successful campaign to secure HIV treatment for over two million people. Matthew earned a BA in Political Science from Vassar College and a Masters in Community Organizing and Education from Harvard University.
