Max Lubell

Max Lubell is a doctoral student in the Department of Sociology. His research examines the consequences of spatial inequality in the United States. He is particularly interested in how people perceive and respond to threats of gun violence, criminalization, and social disorder in their communities.

He serves as the Program Coordinator for the Texas Prison Education Initiative, a volunteer-led organization bringing college courses to incarcerated teens and adults in central Texas. Prior to joining the department, Max was a research manager at the University of Chicago's Crime Lab and Education Lab where he conducted mixed-methods research on randomized evaluations of several youth violence interventions. Max holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Michigan.
