Michal is a PhD student in the Department of English with a portfolio in Women and Gender Studies. She researches 20th century American women writers, focusing on expressions and embodied experiences of race, ethnicity, and queerness in and through history. Michal’s work centers Black Studies, Jewish Studies, archive theory, and poetics, and examines how women write themselves and their bodies into history against the grain of normative embodiments, temporalities, and geographies. She is also interested in inclusive pedagogy and the public humanities, and has served as co-coordinator of the Ethnic and Third World Literature annual symposium.
