Monica Mohseni is doctoral student in the program of Comparative Literature. Her research focuses on issues of identity, cultural expediency, and mechanisms of corporate neo-colonialism. Monica’s dissertation focuses on the socio-cultural repercussions of extractive American corporations in the southern wing of the Caribbean. Originally from Venezuela, much of Monica’s current research deals with the political and cultural reverberations of American oil companies in Venezuela throughout the twentieth century.
