Undergraduate Interns

Naima Sagar is a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa majoring in International Relations and Economics. She is also minoring in Data Science and Finance. Naima’s academic interests include exploring the causes of growing wealth inequality, particularly in the Global South. She would eventually like to work in human development. In the summer of 2021, Naima interned at Equal Justice Center in Austin, a nonprofit law firm that assists low-income individuals with workers’ rights and immigration cases. She has also worked with the Every Voice Coalition, an organization that aims to prevent sexual assault on college campuses through legislative advocacy. As a child, Naima spent a lot of time in New Delhi, giving her a passion for education and sports promotion, economic development, and women’s empowerment in India.

In the summer of 2020, she interned with the HCL Foundation’s MyScholar Program, a scholarship and mentorship program for low-income students in India. After graduating, Naima hopes to work for an international economic institution where she can begin gaining valuable experience and making an impact.
