Nancy Blanco is a second-year PhD student in the School of Nursing. Her research focuses on reproductive justice, particularly the healthcare rights and access of pregnant and postpartum detainees in ICE facilities at the US-Mexico border, employing a feminist and intersectional lens. Before pursuing her PhD, Nancy worked as a birth doula for low-income Latinx women and published literature on healthcare access barriers for undocumented individuals and other reproductive justice topics. She is deeply committed to human rights advocacy and is passionate about leveraging her bilingual and bicultural background to foster inclusive and impactful dialogue within the field of human rights and justice.
