Human Rights Scholars

Noorulanne Jan (BA 2015 Texas Tech University; JD expected 2021) spent her 1L summer with the Fort Bend Public Defender's Office in Richmond, Texas. For her second summer, she worked with the Federal Public Defender's office of the Southern District of Texas in Houston, Texas. Before law school, Noorulanne spent time as a public school teacher in Houston and Dallas. While in law school, Noorulanne served as a 2019-2020 Mithoff Pro Bono Scholar with the educational equity program called Street Law and is a staff member of the Texas Environmental Law Journal. In addition to being an RA for Professor Haragan, Noorulanne has also interned for various organizations such as the Texas Civil Rights Project, Texas Appleseed, and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. She is a recipient of the 2019 Atlas Genecov Women's Leadership Scholarship and the 2020 Color of Justice Scholarship from the National Association of Women Judges. After law school, Noorulanne hopes to work directly with indigent populations and migrant communities.
