Oriane Leake (B.A. 2014, McGill University; J.D. expected 2020) will intern this summer with two organizations. She will spend the first half of her summer in El Paso, Texas, working for Diocesan Migrant & Refugee Services (DMRS) in their Removal Defense Unit. Here, Oriane will assist with cases at all stages of removal proceedings. For the second half of her summer, she will work with Reprieve in London, England, on death penalty advocacy in the Middle East and North Africa. While at Texas Law, Oriane has participated in both the Capital Punishment Clinic and the Immigration Clinic. In her 2L year, Oriane was the Pro Bono Scholar for the Psychiatric Advanced Directives Project with INCLUDE. Oriane plans to continue exploring the intersections between criminal defense, mental health, and immigration law as she pursues a career in public interest law.
